The Giuliani Dossier: A Brief Tour

In the spirit of openness and of drowning you all in information, we at the Politico are pleased to make available the full contents of Rudy Giuliani's 140-page campaign plan, which the campaign lost possession of under murky circumstances at the beginning of November, and whose contents I reported on in the New York Daily News earlier this month.

And, as somebody who's spent way too much time looking at this thing, let me point you to the interesting parts:

First, the handwritten memo that appears as the first page of the dossier was apparently prepared -- like the rest of the book -- by Giuliani's chief fundraiser, Anne Dickerson. It contains, most strikingly, a listing of Giuliani's main political concerns, and the worry that he might drop out of the race.

One note: We've redacted a line of that document. It's nothing of any political interest -- it has to do with a health issue of somebody other than Rudy.

The meat of the dossier is divided into several sections. There's an index on page 6, after a few pages of a California finance plan.

First are schedules for a campaign swing and for Giuliani himself for the final three months of 2006. That block schedule, starting on page 20, shows, most of all, how busy his business is keeping him.

The next block is of call-lists, with the names of high-rolling Republicans whose support Giuliani was aiming for at the time.

The fundraising plan begins on page 64. It begins with a power-point presentation of Giuliani's goals and structures, along with more names of hoped-for donors. I'm told the $25-30 million goal for this quarter is still current.

And for you campaign technicians, the budget starts on page 79.

And on page 86 is the document that I've had the most interest in from operatives on presidential campaigns: a detailed budget from Bush-Cheney 2004, on which Dickerson worked. A very detailed fundraising and direct-mail plan begins on page 107.
